The Mercedes-Benz 921.820.40.1 antenna, produced by Hirschmann for Mercedes-Benz vehicles from 1986 to 1991 (for models like 560SEL and 420SEL), is an electric retractable antenna. Let's discuss its potential advantages and disadvantages to help you make an informed decision:
Advantages:1. Aesthetic appeal: The hidden, retractable design of this antenna enhances the vehicle's appearance by eliminating the bulky, external antenna.
2. Durability: The manufacturing quality of Hirschmann antennas is generally known for being robust and long-lasting.
3. Convenience: The electric retractable feature allows the antenna to be automatically retracted when the vehicle is locked or the radio is turned off, reducing the risk of damage.
Disadvantages:1. Complexity: The electric antenna system may be more complex and prone to issues compared to a simple, non-electric antenna.
2. Cost: Replacement costs for this type of antenna can be relatively high due to the complexity and specialized components involved.
3. Repair and diagnosis: Faults in electric antennas can be more challenging to diagnose and repair than non-electric antennas, potentially requiring professional assistance.
In conclusion, the Mercedes-Benz 921.820.40.1 Hirschmann electric antenna offers a sleek design and enhanced durability, but it may come with the challenges of complexity, repair costs, and potential diagnostic difficulties. Considering these factors, it is recommended to thoroughly evaluate the condition of your current antenna and weigh the benefits against the potential costs before deciding to purchase a replacement. If the antenna is functioning correctly and you are satisfied with its performance, it may be more cost-effective to keep it. However, if you are experiencing issues and are looking for an upgrade, the electric antenna's aesthetic appeal and added convenience could make it a worthwhile investment.
I just powered up the motor circuit. You can easily re use your old one if this is no good. I m not sure but it may be new. No promises of the control logic box working or not.
I was able to test motor up and down it works fine but cannot the logic box attached.
